Mary Leakey’s 100th Birthday

Have you visited Google today? Well, when I opened my favorite search engine this morning, Google has this banner, and when I point the cursor to the banner, I have learned that it’s Mary Leakey’s 100th birthday. According to Wikipedia, Mary Leakey was born on February 6, 1913, and died on December 9, 1996, at the age of 83. She was a Bristish archeologist and anthropologist who discovered the first fossilized Proconsul skull. Proconsul was an instinct ape now believed to be ancestral to humans, and also she discovered the robust Zinjanthropus skull atOlduvai Gorge. Mary Leaky worked together with her husband named Louis Leakey in Olduvai Gorge. After her husband died, she became a leading palaeoanthropologist, helping to establish the Leakey tradition by training her son, Richard, in the field.
