8 Tips on Avoiding Cash for Gold Scams

With gold prices rising and the economy struggling, many people are looking for ways to pull in some extra cash.   Whether you want to sell silver in New Jersey, gold in Florida or flatware in Georgia, buying services may claim to buy your items for top dollar, many of them knowing that the average consumer has no idea what  "top dollar" is.

If you are considering trading in your gold or other precious metals for cash, how can you be sure you're dealing with a reputable establishment and not one of these scams?

1. Never deal with someone over the phone or by email only.

Don't go for the mail-in services.   Only deal with someone face to face in a solid establishment.   You don't want to find that someone took your gold and absconded with no forwarding address.

2. Take your time.

Gold is not going anywhere.  Be careful around a broker who appears to be making a hard sell or who is trying to convince you that you are getting a one-day-only deal.

3. Research the company.

How long has the company been in business?  What are other people saying about the company?  Thanks to the Internet, it's almost impossible to keep bad business deals a secret.  Run a search on the company you are planning to use. You should be able to find review sites and you can read about other people's experiences with the company.

4. Check that your broker is a registered dealer.

A reputable gold broker will be registered with the National Futures Association.   You can go to the NFA's website and look up the broker. The site will tell you if the broker or firm has ever been sanctioned or had a complaint filed against them.

5. Check with the Better Business Bureau.

While you are checking credentials, go to the BBB's website and do a search there, as well.  The BBB has reported that inquiries and complaints against gold buyers are rising.  Additionally, they have received several reports from people who have mailed in their gold and never received the promised cash.

6. Separate out jewelry with gems.

If you trade in an old diamond engagement ring, you may only receive payment for the gold and not for the diamond.  If you plan to sell jewelry with gemstones, be sure to have the stone appraised and sell it through a qualified gemstone dealer.

7. Read the fine print.

Before signing anything or accepting a deal, read the entire contract or deal and understand exactly what you are entitled to.  Make sure you know how much money you will be receiving and don't sign off on the deal unless you are happy with the amount.  Don't deliver your gold "on spec."

8. Shop around.

Get estimates from a couple different companies before you decide to sell.  You might be surprised by the variance in value between companies. If you do your research and use common sense, you can get a good deal for your gold to put some extra cash in your pocket.

Buying the RIght Mattress

It is a little bit shocking to hear that a mattress will only last for five to seven years , which certainly does not seem like a long time. However, new memory foam mattresses and some other varieties might last a little longer. Most people have actually forgotten the last time they bought a mattress, which means it has been 15 years or more. However, sleeping on an old, worn out mattress is leaving many people with a poor night’s sleep and a bad back. You may find mattress is due to be changed out.

The first thing you will want to do is compare mattresses. The best way to do this is in the store. You will have the opportunity to test several varieties of mattresses at the same time in order to decide which is right for you. Additionally, some mattress producers offer a 30 day trial period in which you can find mattress that is right for you with little obligation.

While mattress comparison may seem like a lot of work, it is time well spent in the end. Everyone is different and so is every mattress. There are so many on the market to pick from. It is possible that a standard spring mattress is all you need, yet again you may be ready to try the new innovative memory foam.

Whatever you decide there are several features to consider when purchasing a mattress. You will first want to consider the right firmness and support. You want a mattress that is firm yet comfortable. Second, consider space. How many people will be sleeping on the mattress? Finally, consider durability. As mentioned the standard is 5 to 7 years, but some mattresses will last longer. It all depends on how much you want to spend now, and what you want to spend later.

Forty Plus Years

Today is Friday, November 25, and forty plus years ago, the author of this blog was born on this day. And for forty plus of her existence, there were ups and downs, sweat and tears, but those are experiences that she always treasure for she knows she conquered all the battles in life. As a single parent for a decade, the Creator is always on my side. I have wonderful children, so that's the greatest gift that I have from Heaven.

Anyway, the photos below are my entry for Pink Friday.

The lace front wig either straight or curly can be matched to any wardrobe and make-ups.

Since I have straight long hair, I would definitely want to try this straight lace front wig. Cotton Balls in the Sky

Obviously, these were taken while I was inside the plane. I was sitting on the window side, so I had a chance to take photos of the beautiful clouds without disturbing anybody. I enjoyed looking at the clouds. I was just so lucky that when I traveled, the weather was good, and I had a nice trip at that time, even if I was alone.

At Ninoy Aquino International Airport

This is the departure area at Naia or Ninoy Aquino International Airport. I like the blue carpet here. It looks so neat and clean. Actually, the gates for the check-in areas were not yet opened. So, the passengers for the first flight in the morning were just sitting to the side. There were places also for you to sit while waiting for the gate to be opened, but those were occupied already with people when I got inside.

Below is the blue tile floor that matches the blue carpet above.

Flowers in the Pot.

Here are the flowers that I took a couple of days ago when I was at the flower shop. They are so lovely, aren't they? Since, it was a flower shop, the shop put their names on it, but I couldn't write the names of these lovely flowers because I don't have a pen and paper, and the names are not easy for me to remember. There are plenty of beautiful flowers in this place, but I don't know the names. I only know Tulip and orchids ha ha.

White Flowers

Finally, I saw the sun today. I was glad that the sun was able to shine this morning until in the afternoon. However, since the winter is coming in a few more weeks, the weather outside is still cold even if the sun has risen. Yesterday, when I had a short walk from the neighborhood, I saw this tiny white flower along the street. It looks like the gumamela in the Philippines, but it has no smell.

Business Communication Through Audio Conference

Have you heard Web conferencing? Well, web conferencing is similar to webinar or Web-based seminar. It is a service that allows the company's events to be shared through an internet technology. The business could save his time and money if he uses this kind of tool that could easily deliver his product and services through a transmission over the web. This tool has a great advantage to all businesses because as I have mentioned earlier, the business can save more of his time. The presenter of the business doesn't need to travel if he/she has something to deliver with their people because this kind of technology could be delivered anywhere in the world.

Recently, I found a site that offers services like Audio conference, or web conference for businesses either big or small businesses. At Conferencegroup, they provide complete applications for web conferencing like training events, meetings, presentation of new products and services from any computer. By using an Audio conferencing, the participants or the audience of the events can also ask a question directly because the conference group has a complete tool for a completely web-based communication.

At Conferencegroup, if you are interested, the customer's care service is available 24/7, and you could also talk through chatting to one of the expert conference takers of the company. If you have not tried yet or never had any idea on how to get this kind of services, then visit the site so you could read more information from them. The Conference Group has been in the business for over a decade now and has been awarded consecutively for several years as the most outstanding customer service and support by the teleconferencing industry agencies. And now, this company is servicing over 50 countries. So, wherever you are, you can hire their services for a minimal fee. Conference Group is the best place for your business to deliver messages anywhere in the world.

Bicycles Parking Space

This is the bicycle parking space here in my place. Probably, the owners of these bicycles are living in the basement and on the second floor. I am actually on the third floor. There are two families living on the second floor and one at the basement. The one who is living at the basement is the lucky one because she is near to the laundry, ironing and hanging area. She doesn't need to go up and down.
Well, I have my own washing machine, but I don't have a place to hang the clothes. So, I just hanged it inside the toilet.

I Am Looking For a Bathroom Lighting

I was in the shower earlier, and I have noticed that one of the lightings is not working. I thought I didn't switch on the light but when I checked it, it was on but the light didn't open. Anyway, it is not only the bathroom has light problems. The kitchen light above the sink is also not working. Well, I understand that because this house was empty before I arrive here.

I was browsing on the net, and I found a very nice lighting that is perfect for my place. At Savoy House Lighting, you can find different style and design. I actually found a very nice design for the bathroom. The good thing is Savoy House Bathroom Lighting offers a 40% discount on all brand products, but for a limited time only. I wish I have enough money to shop for home lighting. Here in the house, we have a couple of lighting decors for walls, and windows. We have here a chandelier above the dining table and also to the stairs. I like the chandelier above the dining table, but I don’t like the chandelier at the stairs. So, I was planning to change the chandelier at the stairs. Anyway, Savoy House Chandeliers have it all. I also have found beautiful chandelier at worldclasslighting.co.uk but the price is higher compared to Savoy House Lighting.

Watching Ice Hockey

Yesterday, I had a short walk at the neighborhood, and since we are near to the school, I had a chance to watch these girls playing ice hockey inside the gym. Well, I was not inside the gym because only the players can go inside, so I was just watching them at the glass wall and took some pictures of them. So, pardon me if the photos are not really good.

Pink Tiny Plant

The other day, I went out at the nearby store, and I noticed these pink plants near at the bicycle parking. Since it is pink, I took out my camera and took some snapped. At first, I thought it was not a real plant. I thought it was just a plastic plants that were displayed on the top of big drums. But when I came near, it was a real plants. Anyway, do not ask the name of it for I do not know the name of this pink small plant.

How to Make Sure Your New Partner and Your Kids Get Along

Introducing new partners to your kids is probably one of the most difficult stages of being a single parent. Depending on their age and how things stand with their father, your children may well be determined to make things difficult when it comes to your love life. Therefore, you need to proceed with due caution and be sensitive to their concerns. Here are a few fail safe ways to build a happy relationship between your partner and your children and avoid the danger zones.

Ensure it’s serious…

The easiest way to befuddle your children is to introduce them to too many potential suitors. They will lose faith in you ever finding a serious partner and will probably start to turn their nose up at any stranger that walks across the threshold. Therefore, you have to be completely sure that the relationship is serious and is heading somewhere before getting the children involved. Before this, dates should be strictly separate from your home life.

Introduce them gradually…

If there really is someone you’re very sure about, introduce them slowly. Start by talking about them, telling your children about your time together in Birmingham dating or repeating one of their anecdotes. This will provoke your children’s curiosity but won’t make them feel pressured. Next, ask the children plainly if and when they would like to meet your new love interest. Start small, with half hour cups of coffee and get slowly bigger, eventually spending whole weekends together.

Maintain the difference…

Always keep the difference between your lover and your children’s father distinct. You are not demanding a paternal relationship here and you should make this clear. Never compare the two of them in front of the children and always present your partner as a friend rather than a father figure. This way you are far less likely to cause any upset.

Include them in your routine…

Try not to make the event of meeting your partner seem like a special occasion. Avoid grand days out or anything that might be considered a treat, especially at first. You don’t want the kids to feel bribed into the relationship. Instead, gently work your partner into the everyday family routine. Invite them to dinner, or have them come to the park, working them slowly and naturally into your children’s lives and (hopefully) affections.

Give them time to get to know each other…

After a while, start to let your partner look after the kids on their own. Send them off to the shops, or let them go to the cinema together. This will mean they have time to get to know each other away from the pressure of your anxious presence.

Be transparent…

When it comes to big steps like moving in and getting married, always be as truthful and open as you can possibly be with your kids. Take them through each stage and hold as little as possible back. Any lies will be much more offensive than the straight truth. Whether you met them on one of the top dating sites in the UK or in the supermarket, your partner shouldn’t be afraid of meeting your children. With these top tips they should get on marvelously.

I Need Google Translator

Honestly, I don’t know what to write today. My mind is totally empty, even though there are lots of things that I could share for you today. I was at my Facebook account this morning, but I couldn’t join the conversation of my friends easily because I am using a laptop now, and I am not used to it. In addition, I am having trouble understanding the language here. I also need to master the keyboard since it is different with the keyboard I was using in the Philippines. I want to post some pictures that I took yesterday, but I don’t know how to do it. Well, I guess I need to download Google translator so I could work properly here on my blogs.

Eye-catching Checks Design

A lot of people nowadays used credit cards as a mode of payment. However, there are also people who are using checks as their way of paying bills and purchases instead of cash or credit cards. I used to have bank checks when I was still working and had a little business of my own. This is due to the fact that it is more convenient and the safest way of paying bills and purchases than carrying cash or paying using a credit card.

Anyway, do you know that you can now choose a design for your checks? Yes, I found a site that specializes on check's designs like bank checks, household checks or personal checks. At Carouselchecks.com, you can find hundreds of beautiful and attractive check's design as well as checkbook cover designs that could match to your checks. They have nature's design, animal's design, or your favorite cartoon character's design to name a few. So, if you are tired looking of your check's design, then it's time for a change.

You can order checks at Carousel anytime and will be delivered to your door quickly. They provide 24/7 assistance and services to make sure that the customers will get his/her newly designed checks the soonest possible. So, if you could get a chance, try visiting the site now and see it for yourself. I am certain that you can find a design that is perfect for your taste.

How to Balance a Challenging Career and Motherhood

Mothers are often considered as super humans. Why? Simply because of their ability to juggle in between home and work. This is no easy task especially since both aspects should be given attention. Since the economy is pretty tough right now, most mothers even though they would like to stay at home and take of the children are left with no other choice but to work in order to make a living. Now the task becomes harder, raising kids and continuously providing superior performance at work both require a great deal of time and hard work.

If you want to be both a successful mother and a career woman, it is important to learn the ways on how you can work on both things without having to sacrifice another. One way to do this is by having a clear schedule. Learn how to prioritize and make sure to not miss out on important family events. Planning ahead of time and keeping a schedule can help you be more organized. Time management is such a vital key.

Always have a day to spend with the entire family. Keep your weekends work free if you can or make up for the lost time by going on a road trip with the entire family. Spending quality time with your husband and kids is also very important. Engage in small talks with your kids in order to keep communication lines open. Also, remember not to talk too much about work when its family time. Leave all your office problems behind once you set foot at home.

Ally currently works as a freelance writer. Among her favorite topics include travel, current events, technology and fashion. She's enjoying her current task writing for gulvafslibning kĂžbenhavn a project which is all about floor sanding Copenhagen.
