National Heroes Day - August 30

The Palace has declared August 30 a non-working holiday.

August 30 is a holiday. Yohoo! It falls on a Monday, so, Janjan has no school and I don’t need to wake up early too. That is really great! ha ha!

National Heroes Day, celebrated yearly every last Monday of August, and this year it falls on August 30.

For regular holidays, employees who report to work receive 200 percent basic wage for the first eight hours, plus an additional 30 percent of the per-hour rate for the succeeding hours counted as overtime.

For special non-working holidays, employees get 130 percent of the daily rate for the first eight hours with additional 30 percent hourly rate for overtime.

Arroyo observed holiday economics through Republic Act 9492, which sought to drive domestic tourism. Under the said law, when a holiday falls on a Wednesday, it will be observed on Monday of the same week. But if the holiday falls on a weekend, it will be observed the following Monday.
