Philippine President visited Davao

Here’s the news for all the people who are interested Davao City , Philippines .

President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo came yesterday (Feb. 19) with the investors from China and Thailand to visit the 224-hectare mariculture park at the Island Garden City of Samal, making true her statement a week ago that she would bring investors to explore the region’s agricultural investment potentials.

The President and some Chinese and Thai investors were briefed by Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) officials on the park prepared by the Office of the Press Secretary for the event.

The President, visitors and other officials were at the world class Pearl Farm Resort for the morning activities and no one was interviewed by the members of the media because they made it a private setting.

The mariculture park, opened in August 2001, has eight investors and the location of the BFAR demonstration farm has created several jobs, said Rupert G. Mata, a staff of the mariculture park.

Among those who were employed in the park was Henry R. Boncales Jr., a resident who has been earning about P4,000 a month as feeder of the Jorona fish cages. He witnessed the arrival of the President and her companions, he has been working at the park for two years now. Boncales said, he hopes that investments in the area will continue to expand to open opportunities to the jobless in the area. I wish that too.
